2023 International Forum on Carbon Emission Reduction in Building Materials Industry and Exchange Meeting to encourage the promotion and application of technology and products was held in Beijing

On July 25, 2023, sponsored by China Building Materials Federation and co-organized by China General Institute of Building Materials Scientific Research Co., LTD., Sinoma Energy Saving Co., LTD., and Sinoma Construction Co., LTD., the 2023 International Forum on Carbon Emission Reduction in Building Materials Industry and the Exchange Meeting on encouraging the promotion and application of technology and products was held in Beijing.

With the theme of "Green, high-end and intelligent", government officials, experts, scholars and business representatives from the field of global building materials discussed carbon emission reduction and carbon neutral policies in the building materials industry, shared advanced concepts, methods and technical paths of carbon emission reduction, and exchanged green and low-carbon new technologies, new products and new processes. Gao Ping said in his speech that first, we must firmly target, accelerate the intelligent green development of the building materials industry, and steadily and orderly promote carbon emission reduction; Second, we must strengthen confidence, accelerate the promotion of new technologies and new products, and promote the steady growth of the industry. Zou Xianyong delivered a video speech, saying that the global building materials industry should further strengthen cooperation in technology, innovation, standards and markets, and promote and accelerate global strategic dialogue. The United Nations Industrial Development Organization will continue to support industrial decarbonization, provide support to emerging and developing countries in technology transfer and financing, and work together for the green and low-carbon development of the global building materials industry.

Minister Plenipotentiary of the UAE to China Abdullah al-Nuaimin introduced the UAE's carbon emission reduction targets in the construction sector, as well as the prospects of cooperation between China and Arab countries in the field of building materials, hoping that the two sides will continue to promote carbon emission reduction and sustainable development in the future and share the fruits of green development.

Du Xuesh, Director of the U.S. Department of Energy's China Office and Energy Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, shared the work and experience of the U.S. Department of Energy in promoting the research and application of carbon reduction technologies. We hope to strengthen technical cooperation with Chinese enterprises and jointly contribute to the realization of global climate governance.

Qiu Enrui, Commercial Counselor of the Canadian Embassy in China, shared Canada's successful practice and advanced technology application cases in the field of carbon emission reduction in building materials, introduced Canada's cutting-edge technology and practice in CCUS, and looked forward to more in-depth exchanges and cooperation with Chinese building materials enterprises.

With the deep participation of China's building materials industry in the global division of labor, China's building materials enterprises in the international competitiveness and influence continue to increase, China's building materials industry needs a wider range, wider areas, deeper level of opening up and cooperation. At the forum, the launch ceremony of the Blue Book on International Cooperation in China's Building Materials Industry was held. Chen Guoqing, Gao Ping, An Boyu, Commercial Counselor of the Australian Embassy in China, and Hong Fusheng, Commercial Counselor of the Philippine Embassy in China, unveiled the new book.

In his keynote speech, Liu Jianhua reviewed the new breakthroughs and application achievements of green and low-carbon technologies in the field of building materials at home and abroad in the past two years, introduced the key work of China Building Materials Federation to actively promote green and low-carbon development, and put forward specific measures to ensure that China's building materials industry can achieve carbon peak in advance.

   Claude Lorea, Director of Innovation at the Global Cement and Concrete Association, shared the GCCA's Carbon Neutral Concrete Roadmap to 2050, described the GCCA's initiatives to promote low-carbon concrete technology innovation, and explained the EU carbon tariffs and related incentives for the production of carbon neutral concrete.

Sun Xingshou, chief economist and deputy secretary-general of China Building Materials Federation, read the Catalogue of Technologies and products encouraged to promote and apply in Building materials Industry (2023).

Li, Director of Industrial Decarbonization at Rocky Mountain Institute, shared the corporate carbon action framework, carbon neutral strategy, low-carbon building materials promotion and application practice and future development direction. Zhang Jianyu, executive director of the International Institute for Green Development of the Belt and Road, shared the relevant content and development trend of the construction of the green Silk Road, pointing out that the next step is to strengthen cooperation and innovation in green development and promote high-quality development of the Belt and Road. Meng Qinglin, chairman of SINoma Energy Saving Co., LTD., introduced the practical achievements of SINoma Energy Saving in adhering to the comprehensive energy supply of the industry, and put forward the path of realizing sustainable energy development of building materials industrial park.
